TEXAS STATION
champs Kris George and Sean Huggins Kris George and Sean Huggins captured JBT victories in exciting Mojave Conference action at Texas Station. The handicap division finals began with Logan Kennedy getting past Dan Fasanella by a 240-215 margin. Kennedy was good again in round two, this time beating Cameron Peck 216-197. Huggins then took over in the semifinals, defeating Kennedy 226-192 to reach the title match. Top seed Kyle Bridgman has been enjoying a great beginning to the new season, capped off by leading this event. However, he could not get lined up in the finale, and Huggins took advantage for a 201-167 win and his second career JBT victory. The scratch division used the exciting 'PBA' format, where we cut to the top 16 and bowl best 2-of-3 matches. Top seed Forrest Holland had a great qualifying round on teh sport-compliant pattern, but fell in three games in round one of matchplay. Eventually the field was whittled to four. In the semifinal matches, Andy Byer, who won the previous day's JBT in Arizona, defeated JR Monteith 254-214, while Kris George defeated yesterday's other finalist Bill Grant in a 213-206 squeaker. George seems to save some of his best bowling for Mojave events, while Byer was looking for two wins in a weekend, still one of the rarest of JBT feats. Combined, these two JBT superstars have 24 titles between them. When those two forces collided, this time it was George coming out on top, 229-182, for his 12th career victory. Just 64 bowlers competed in the event, so we hope everyone who attended had a great time, and will spread the word about the great benefits of bowling JBT. Everyone who finished in the top 5 qualifies for the 2007 JBT Mojave Invitational Tournament, the regular season's year end event, featuring a guaranteed minimum $1,000 first place scholarship in each division. Top season-long point scorers also qualify for the 2007 JBT Touring Players' Championship, featuring a guaranteed minimum $2,000 first place scholarship per division! Big thanks to Jerry Francomano and his whole crew at Texas Station for their usual terrific job hosting our events. Over $1,600 in scholarships were awarded. Want in on the fun? Come on out to the next JBT event, it's as simple as that!
