ACME BOWLING

champs Nick Tourangean and Andy Walker

Nick Tourangeau and Andy Walker captured JBT titles in exciting Pacific Northwest Conference at Acme Bowling.

Tourangeau's first career JBT title came after a day where he nabbed the top spot in game 7, and averaged over 226.  Jake Klemsen finished first, closing in on points leader Rob Edwards, who took third.  Tyler Cruz took fourth, and first time JBT bowler Eryk Jensen, who led the qualifying round at +189, rounded out the top 5.

Andy Walker, who earlier captured a doubles title with Andrew Mohr, captured his first JBT singles title with the title match win over Dawn Kemper.   JBT rookies Ryan Temple and Payden Stumpf finished third and fifth respectively, while vetran Clayton Bult finished in fourth place.

With just one event left in the regular season, a double points event at Four Seasons in Kaizer, Edwards' lead over Kelmsen has shrunk to 11 in the scratch division points race, with Lucas Stone only 11 points behind him in third.  Cameron Weier is 20 points further behind in fourth, while Lori Hanken, the only female in the scratch top 5 in any conference, is just one point behind Cameron in fifth.

An equally intriguing handicap points race has Megan Page with a 29 pin cushion over Brett Hall.  The real race here, though, is for fifth, where Andrew Mohr leads a pack of bowlers, with only 40 points between third and eleventh place, making the Kaizer event extremely important.  The top 5 point scorers after Four Seasons get a bye into the Invitational finals, a guaranteed scholarship and a big jump towards the $1,000 first place scholarship prize.

An overflow crowd of 85 bowlers made for a long day, so we thank everyone for their patience- problems of growth are good kinds of problems to have!  As a result of the large turnout, over $2,000 in scholarships were awarded, and we thank everyone at Acme for working with us as well.  Want in on the fun?  Come on down to the next JBT event, it's as simple as that!
