BOWL EL PASO

champs Bill Grant and David Morgan

Bill Grant claimed a landmark win, while David Morgan tasted victory for the first time, in exciting JBT TX-NM Conference action at Bowl El Paso.

BJ Eichensehr opened up the scratch division stepladder finals with a big 258, to oust always tough Geoffrey Young, who bowed out with 190.  Grant then took over, edging Eichensehr 235-226, and following with another thriller, this time 205-203 over Arizona's Kyle King.

Top qualifier Andy Byer and Grant battled down to the wire for Bowler of the Year last season, with Grant's Invitational win giving him the edge, so a great battle was expected for this title, and they didn't disappoint.  In a tightly contested match, Grant stepped up and threw a brilliant double in the tenth for a 204-193 win, making him only the 14th bowler in JBT history with 10 career titles.

In a battle of cousins to begin the handicap stepladder, it was Alexandro Reyes beating Josh Reyes 268-224.  Jackie Jones then defeated Reyes 221-209, before Morgan stopped Jones, 217-192, to reach the title match.

Top seed Dillon Bridge was leading a JBT event for the first time, and both bowlers ended up struggling quite a bit in their first title match.  In the end, though, Morgan had enough for a 189-160 win, and his first career JBT victory.

Big thanks to Wiley Quintana and everyone else at Bowl El Paso for a great job hosting our Tour!   Wanna get in on the fun?  Come on down to the next JBT event, it's as simple as that!
