MAGIC LANES

champs Patrick Hickok & Jessica Bubnich

Patrick Hickok and Jessica Bubnich claimed their first JBT titles in exciting Pacific Northwest Conference season-opening action at Seattle's Magic Lanes.

Jordan Plunkett opened the scratch division stepladder finals with a lopsided 246-119 win over Josh Jackson.  Plunkett got a tougher match from talented newcomer Perry Crowell but escaped 222-189.  In the semifinals, Hickok turned the tables with a 218-188 win over Plunkett to reach he title match.

Top seed Rob Edwards began the season with the same dominance he exhibited all last season, easily gaining the top seed for the finals.  However, Hickok, who finished 2nd in the TPC last season in the handicap division, used the confidence from that experience to stay in the game against Rob.  When Edwards left a big split in the 9th frame, that was all Patrick needed for a 211-192 win and his first career JBT title.

Bubnich climbed the ladder en route to her first career title. Three of the matches proved to be very close, beginning with the opener, a 203-201 squeaker over Thomas Nylund.  She then got by Brittany Arndt 232-221, and then enjoyed her large margin of victory in a 240-155 win over Matt Matias to reach the finals.

Top seed Zach Hemming bowled terrificly all day to gain the top spot, but he struggled in his first title match- but fortunately for Zach, Jessica (in her 12th game of the day) came down to earth a bit as well.  In the end, however, Bubnich had enough left for a 197-185 win over Hemming, and claimed her first career JBT title.

Big thanks to Ron Davenport and everyone else at agic for a great job hosting our Tour for the first time, and on relatively short notice as well!   Wanna get in on the fun?  Come on down to the next JBT event, it's as simple as that!
