TRIANGLE BOWL

champs Rob Edwards and Megan Page

Rob Edwards continued his Pac NW Conference dominance, while Megan Page tasted victory for the first time, in exciting JBT action at Longview's Triangle Bowl.

A newcomer to JBT, Marshall Kent, opened the scratch division of the stepladder finals with a 216-202 win over Nick Stone.  Another JBT rookie, Chris Kirk, then strung the strikes to beat Kent 246-188.  Lori Hanken then ousted Kirk 214-201, and she advanced to her first JBT title match.

Talented females are nothing new to JBT- five females have won scratch titles in mixed events our history- and Miss Hanken was eager to add her name to that list, firing a 299 game earlier to highlight her excellent day.  However, top seed Rob Edwards was determined to not let that happen.  The defending Pac NW JBT Bowler of the Year, who finished second at the season-opener in Seattle, was nearly perfect this time, tossing a 279 game to defeat Lori and capture his 3rd career JBT title.  He used an Ebonite bowling ball for the win, good for an extra $100 from Ebonite.

Justin David opened the handicap division stepladder with a 218-206 victory over Connor Gracia in round one.  In a thrilling second game, Katie Beismann squeaked by David 250-242.  10 year-old Tyler Boe then wowed the crowd by shooting 224 scratch en route to beating Beismann 271-201 to set up the title match.

Top seed Megan Page was enjoying her best JBT event by far, but had her hands full with the very impressive Boe.  Despite another fine effort from Tyler, Megan picked her first JBT title match to come up with the high scratch game of her career, a 265 (293 with handicap), and she captured her first career JBT title.

Thanks to everyone at Triangle for a great job hosting us, and thanks to YOU for spreading the word about our Tour.  A Pacific Northwest record 79 bowlers competed in the event, and we feel that could be just the beginning of where this Conference can go.  Keep up the great job spreading the word!  Over $1,600 in scholarships was awarded- want in on the fun?  Come on out to the next JBT event, it's as simple as that!
