Kris George remained red hot in early season JBT action, capturing the scratch-only event at Glenfair Lanes.

George struggled to win matches early on on the tricky lane condition, but found his bearings in game 4, winning the last two qualifying matches to earn the #11 seed for the finals. In round one of the 16-person finals, he got past #6 Mike May 2-0 in a best of three match. Top seed Kyle King outlasted #16 Josh Shoup in three tough games, while #2 Greg Garbera swept #15 Justin Givler, #3 Courtney Dutton swept Shawn Peters, and #4 Kyle Karpovich swept Eduardo Perez.

In the round of 8, Dutton swept #10 Anthony Tripi, #12 Miguel Lopez upset Garbera 2-1, George beat Karpovich 2-1, and #9 Allie Ijams upset top seeded King with a 2-0 sweep.

In the semifinals, the guys beat up on the girls (a rarity this season), as George edged Ijams 236-232, while Lopez exploded for a 290-218 win over Dutton.

Unfortunately for Miguel, his hand was also exploding (see below), and Kris showed no mercy as he rolled to a 227-203 win in the title match against Lopez. The win was the 16th title of the talented vetran's career, and the second of the young season, after a winless 07-08 campaign.
