KELLOGG BOWL

champs Cameron Weier & Kelsey Abrahamsen

Cameron Weier and Kelsey Abrahamsen captured JBT titles in exciting Pacific Northwest Conference action at Milwaukie's Kellogg Bowl in the regular season wrapup to the JBT Pac NW schedule.

Weier made an improbable climb up the scratch division stepladder for his conference-leading third win of the season.  He snuck into the fifth and final seed by two pins, then opened the finals with a 212-197 win over Josh Jackson.  Weier then doubled in the tenth frame to edge Lucas Stone 192-181.  In a much higher scoring match, Cameron came up clutch again in the semifinals, doubling again in the tenth to beat Tyler Cruz 246-237 to reach the title match.

Top seed Jordan Plunkett had absolutely dominated the tournament en route to the top seed, but Weier was on an unstoppable roll, and his momentum helped carry him to a 225-208 win over Jordan for his sixth career JBT title.

Perhaps taking a cue from Cameron, Kelsey also won all four stepladder matches in the handicap division to claim her first career title.  She began with a 223-208 victory over Nathan Coigny. Abrahamsen rolled on past Travis McAllister 217-182, and followed up with a huge 287-228 win over Evan Pendergraft to reach the title game.

Top seed Andrew Heritage has has best JBT performance by far to claim the top seed, but like Jordan over in scratch, could do nothing to stop the momentum Kelsey had created through the ladder.  Although he rolled a fine game himself, Abrahamsen threw great shots in the final frames for a 243-237 win over Andrew for the championship.

An exciting PowerBowl event saw three bowlers reach the final ball, with Leslie Strong, Ashli Mortensen, and Tyler Boe all getting to the last ball, but settling for $50 each- not bad for three shots of bowling.

Over $1,500 in scholarships were awarded to bowlers of all ages and averages in our first visit to this fine center.  Want in on all the fun and excitement?  Come on down to the next JBT event, it's as simple as that!
