ROXBURY LANES
champ Jordan Plunkett Jordan Plunkett captured his third career JBT title with a win in exciting scratch-only action at Seattle's Roxbury Lanes. Plunkett won 3 of 5 matches in the 'scratchplay' qualifying round to help him to the #7 seed for the round of 16 (and won the Ebonite ball raffle as well!) #13 Ronnie Goodman and #15 Travis McAllister, both usually in the handicap division, made the cut to 16, but lost their first matches, to #4 Nick Stone and #15 Cameron Weier. Top seed Chris Kirk, though, was victim of the #1-jinx, however, as #16 Jon Smith eliminated him in three tough games. In the round of eight, #9 Tyler Cruz defeated Smith, Stone beat #11 Brandon Nylund, Plunkett beat #3 Catherine Rawsthorne, and #5 Lucas Stone upset Weier. Down to one-game semifinal matches, Cruz defeated Nick 213-199, while Jordan edged Lucas 205-201, to set up the title match. In the finale, Plunkett remained in control the entire time, and the defending Pac NW Invitational champ earned another win with a 231-185 win over Cruz, who had to settle for the 4th runner-up finish of his career. $1,100 in scholarships were awarded to the field, who were warmed from the icy weather by the always hospitable Roxbury lanes staff. Want in on all this great action? Come on down to a JBT event, it;'s as simple as that!
