Ryan Scheer tasted JBT victory for the first time, while Olivia Silva regained her winning form, in exciting JBT action at Silva Lanes.
In a battle of two of our younger yet veteran stars, Samantha McFarland defeated Andrew McKinsey 233-209 to open up the handicap division stepladder finals. Tim Baribeau then defeated McFarland in a thriller 251-247, and then Silva turned the tables on Baribeau, defeating Tim 226-197 to advance to the title match.
Top seed Louis Tkach was making his first finals appearance in a long time, but he had his hands full against Silva (no relation to the center name, by the way). The 3-time champ hadn't won in a while, and she changed that with a 231-208 win over Louis for her 5th career JBT title, a number very few handicap division bowlers have reached.
Billy Read opened up the scratch division finals with a 191-168 win over Matt Helmick. Scheer then took over, defeating Read 193-183, and following with a 235-203 win over Nathan Shock to reach the title match.
Top seed (and 07-08 Sportsmanship winner) Zach Barnard broke out of a protracted slump by leading the event, but faced an up and coming talent in Scheer, who came a few strikes away from victory in December. This time Ryan came through with a 214-169 win and his first career JBT title.
