STARLIGHT LANES

champs Chris Brown & Jeremiah Martin

Chris Brown and Jeremiah Martin scored big wins to jump into the top five in points, in exciting JBT NM-TX Conference action at Starlight Lanes at Santa Ana Star Casino.

Brown snuck into the stepladder finals, then squeezed past his opening match when a tenth from washout from Hannah Stedman keyed a 223-203 win for Chris.  Brown then caught fire, beating Joe Lewandowski 256-224, and followed with a 201-168 win over Tim Crites to advance to the title match.

Top seed Cameron Smith used a 745 semifinal set to dominate the event, but when Brown, the powerful no-thumb bowler, gets in his groove he is as tough to beat as anyone. He proved it again here with a 233-212 win over Smith, good for the fourth title of his JBT career.

Adel Wahner began a climb up the handicap division stepladder finals with a 231-202 win over birthday girl Alyssa Williams.  Wahner then got by Austin Thompson in a high scoring match 256-236, and followed with a 227-216 win over Alexis Atkin (who went 9-spare through the first eight frames) to advance to the title game.

Top seed Jeremiah Martin has had a red-hot spring, and after taking over the lead in the semifinals, remained untouchable in the title match, winning 249-210 for the second title of his career.  Both Chris and Jeremiah jump into the top 5 in season-long points with the wins, earning them byes into the Invitational matchplay finals.

Wendy Shelton won her fourth consecutive Impact Bowling Women's Series title with a 247-223 win over Hannah Stedman, all but locking up NM-TX Girl Bowler of the Year honors.

Thanks as always to the crew at Starlight for hosting our event, which awarded over $1,400 in scholarships to bowlers of all averages and ages.
