Jared Lawrence defended his title at Parkway Bowl, while Shane Peck made a summer full of practice pay off with his second JBT SW title.

The scratch division was not very high-scoring overall, however all 5 finalists did turn in 8-game scores of +200 or better.  In an all-lefty first finals match, Anthony Dancel threw 10 strikes for a 264-226 win over BJ Baker.  In round two, Josh Blanchard, who had led most of the day, defeated Dancel 221-203.  Josh turned up the heat in the semifinal, defeating 27-time winner Steven Black 247-205, to advance to the title match.

Top qualifier Jared Lawrence won a shootout at Parkway last season, but the title match against Blanchard started out much differently, with the bowlers combining for four opens in the first six frames.  Lawrence was the first bowler to make the proper adjustments, and his mid-game string was enough to claim a 202-170 victory, good for his 2nd JBT SW title, both coming at Parkway.

In the handicap division, Kaitlin Mayall and Megan Withey engaged in a thrilling opening round match, with Withey escaping in a 247-245 shootout.    Round 2 provided another close battle.  This time, Megan escaped with a 197-188 victory over Steven Lanning.  In the semifinal, Megan turned it up and had an easier time of it, defeating a fine effort by Erika Garcia 254-221.  

Top qualifier Shane Peck attributed his fine performance on the day to a summer of non-stop practice, which paid well for the man who already won our 03-04 Most Improved Bowler award.  As often happens when a player runs away from the field, though, the title match ended up being a tense battle.  However, Megan couldn't quite close the gap, and Peck claimed a 223-212 victory, and his 2nd JBT SW career title.
